Mike Gallaugher is reinventing the independent insurance business as owner of Toro Insurance Group, a top provider of auto, home, life and business insurance services. By way of his unorthodox style and nearly a decade of insurance brokerage experience, he has built a strong reputation as being a significant player and consultant in the industry.
Gallaugher has served multiple terms on the board for Arizona Mortgage Lenders Association. He currently resides on the board for the Arizona Heart Foundation, in addition to the advisory boards for the Care Fund and St. Vincent de Paul Society Phoenix. He has since served on the board for the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. Moreover, he has contributed his expertise on several committees for Arizona’s Asian Real Estate Association of America and Arizona Multi-Housing Association.
Gallaugher’s dedication has facilitated multiple philanthropic opportunities that have been tied to local charitable foundations: Care Fund, The Prayer Child Foundation, The Ronald McDonald House Charities, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Salvation Army, and other amazing Arizona organizations that help to ease the struggle and pain of others.
A few personal notes: Gallaugher is a fourth generation Arizona native and Arizona State University graduate. His love of water lead him to swim competitively throughout his life, of which he still holds the City of Mesa 50-yard butterfly record since 1992. While at ASU, he transitioned into water polo and surfing. His greatest joys happen to be in his role as a single father raising three teenagers (16, 17, and 18) who just so happen to attend Mountain View High School, home of the Toros.
Awards: Under Gallaugher’s direction, Toro Insurance Group was ranked in the 2020 Ranking Arizona magazine in two categories: #6 Insurance Brokers and #9 Insurance Property/Casualty. The publication is a result of the largest business opinion poll in Arizona, and based purely on the public’s opinion on the quality of products, services and people. In 2019, Gallaugher was listed as a “Top Influential Leader in Real Estate,” according to Scottsdale Homeowner Magazine. Gallaugher’s local service and commitment earned him the 2019 Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award which enabled him to present a $10,000 check to the Care Fund. He was also deeply honored to received the 2016 Man of Strength Award for his leadership in the real estate industry.
